Strong Women, Strong Communities

Why are women the most influential power in the fight against poverty?  

Join Kathy Wong, Manager of Ambassador Relations and Events at CARE Canada, as she discusses the important role women’s empowerment and self-sufficiency play in breaking the cycle of poverty.  This topic has garnered worldwide attention and is uniting world leaders, activists, development experts and other agents of positive change.  

Kathy will share personal stories of her travels to Africa where she met strong and resilient women, who are building a better life for themselves, their families and their communities.  

Lastly join Kathy as she provides the audience with a sneak peek at the new, unique and exciting 2012 Walk In Her Shoes Campaign.  On March 8th, 2012 thousands of Canadians will participate in a national challenge that will empower women and girls.  Learn how you can get involved next International Women’s Day to create greater awareness of and opportunities for women and girls in developing regions of the world.

Speaker Biography:
Kathy Wong is a marketing and communications professional with over 12 years of experience both in corporate and non-for-profit sector. Kathy joined CARE Canada in 2009 as a Campaigns Manager. In her current role, Kathy leads a team that oversees all aspects of the strategic development, planning and execution of CARE Canada fundraising campaigns.  Her team is also responsible for acquiring and managing CARE ambassadors.
