Walking in Her Shoes!

I'm participating in an exciting challenge called Walk in Her Shoes.

In the poorest communities around the world, women and girls are often the ones tasked to collect water, firewood or other basic necessities of life. They walk on average 6 kilometers a day, often much more, carrying the equivalent of a suitcase. This leaves little time to attend school, access health services or earn money to support their families.

Yet when women and girls are empowered to tackle these issues, whole families and communities benefit.

To help make a difference I’ve decided to join the Walk in Her Shoes challenge to raise funds to help fight global poverty. I need your support to reach my fundraising goal!

Please support my Walk in Her Shoes challenge by sponsoring me today! You can make a secure online donation using your credit card or PayPal. Just click on the link below:

http://my.e2rm.com/personalPage.aspx?SID=2890521&Lang=en-CA

Your donation will go to CARE Canada to empower women and girls to improve their lives and the lives of those around them. You will help communities earn a living, access education, health care, clean drinking water and so much more.

Thank you for supporting me. Together we will make a difference!

CARE is Canada’s global force dedicated to defending dignity and fighting poverty by empowering the world's most vulnerable and greatest resource for change: women and girls. Founded in 1946 to distribute “CARE packages” of relief to a war-torn Europe, CARE is now reaching out to more than 59 million people in more than 70 countries around the world every year.

Virtual Partnership Potential & Walking for Change!

Hello to you all,

I have two news items to report:

1.  Through the teleconferences we have been doing once a month, we have been able to reach out beyond our Canadian borders to our American sisters!  This is truly exciting for numerous reasons!  First it closes the gap between us that exists simply due to the many physical miles which separate us geographically, and secondly it helps support their initiative to form their own virtual club!  BPW Canada has really done pioneering work with the Virtual Club, and now we can share and help others.  I have been in communication not only with our sisters to the south, but also with IFBPW.  There is a true interest in what can happen if the virtual aspect is used to its fullest potential!

With that in mind, I strongly encourage you to take a tour of your national experiment!  Ask about us!  We are more than eager to discuss the possibilities!  Also, there are two more teleconferences pending!  If you are interested just contact me, Crystal Sissons, at csissons1@yahoo.ca

Information about our February 16th speaker is on the last entry, and our March 16th speaker's information will be posted shortly.

This is also an early notice that we will be doing a fundraising teleconference for Timea Nagy's Walk With Me Organization in April!  More information on that to come!  Timea spoke at the national conference on human trafficking, and her organization works to combat its many forms.

2.  CARE Canada is marking International Women's Day by challenging you to walk!  Yes, you heard it, walk!  The idea is to literally take a walk in our less fourtunate sister's shoes by emulating their daily walking from March 2nd to March 8th.  For more information please see:
